Riot police disperse protesters in Laghouat main square

Riot police forces have cordoned off the area where the protesters have staged their rally yesterday at dawn and blocked all the passages leading to the town hall building of the province of Laghouat.
Tension escalated among the protesters who tried to gather at the main square but the security forces have dispersed provoking skirmishes between the two parties.
Several cases of injuries among the two parties were registered during the clashes and were transferred to the nearest hospital to receive treatment.
Meanwhile, the protesters have called on the supreme authorities to intervene at earliest and force the local authorities to withdraw the police forces considering their movement a peaceful one.
They have also requested the sending of an investigative committee to open an inquiry over the list of beneficiaries from the housing units allocated to the families that lived in the slums.
