RND leader to Echourouk: I will resign at the demand of the president

In a first official declaration of its kind, the SG of the National Democratic Rally Ahmed Ouyahia lauded the outcome of the last legislative elections that witnessed a sweeping victory to the rival party National Liberation front ( FLN).

• In a declaration to Echourouk, Ahmed Ouyahia said “ Our party has sent a representative to the Algerian TV after the announcement of the results and clearly expressed our standpoint; we have dwelt on our own results and congratulated the other parties “.

• The party leader has declined giving a political analysis to the huge gap between the RND and the FLN in terms of seats at the parliament” The difference is numerical and doesn’t need any comment”.

• M Ouyahia went on saying” Is there any intermediary political force between the two major parties. The results respected the same logic of the 2007 legislatives… It’s no a matter of seats distribution, we have to respect the people’s choice”

• He has slammed the parties that talked about vote rigging “ The vote is not a science, but declaring that the vote of the security forces has distorted the outcome of the elections is pure speculation, because the number of the Algerian troops is not comparable to the Chinese one”.

• Replying to the question that the intervention of the Algerian president who called for the vote on the FLN has played on the balance, he said” Was there any questioning concerning the president’s bias before May 2012 ? Bouteflika is the honorary president of the FLN…. But everybody has to know that the citizens went to the polls alone”.

• Ouyahia has declared that he was targeted by some parties declining to give further details and simply declared” Everybody has friends and foes “. However he slashed at whet he penned “ Containers lobbies”.

• He linked the delay in forwarding the government’s resignation to technical reasons saying” Believe me the leading a government is not a sinecure”. He went on saying that only the president has the prerogative to fix the date of my resignation.
