A host of militants belonging to the National Democratic Rally (RND) from 30 wilayas or provinces of Algeria have threatened to block the holding of the upcoming 4th party’s broad-based meeting if the current interim Secretary General Abdelkader Bensalah doesn’t take the necessary measures to sideline for good those supporters of former Secretary General Ahmed Ouyahia accused of fomenting chaos and disunity within the RND Party.

A member of the so-called RND Salvation Bureau from the province of Algiers, Hafi Mohamed Hatem, told “Echorouk” that the somber Ouyahia legacy had left the RND party in a pitiful shambles across the 48 provinces of the country.

He also indicated that a National Front was being set up across 30 provinces of the country to act as a potent lobbying force whose goal is to stymie the return of Ouyahia’s supporters to the upper layers of the RND’s hierarchy in a bid to save the party from dismemberment and implosion, as he put it.

Mr Hatem added that the other main objective of this National RND Salvation Front was to do everything possible to preclude Ahmed Ouyahia’s comeback to the political limelight as he is covertly being prodded by his ill-advised and faulty supporters to stand as a candidate for the next 2014 Presidential elections under the banner of the RND despite his crummy resignation from the party on January 3rd 2013 in the aftermath of a bitter outcry from the party’s rank and file at his over-bearing posture and his divide-and-rule policy.
