There’s no credible data to prove a successful American raid in Idlib against Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, Russia’s Defense Ministry said.

The ministry added, in a statement that was published, on Sunday, by its spokesman, Major General, Igor Konashenkov, that “We do not have any confirmed information about the U.S. military operation to prove its successful elimination of the former leader of ISIS, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, in the Turkish-controlled part of the Idlib region to reduce the escalation”.

“The increase in the number of direct participants and the countries that are said to have participated in this alleged operation, with absolutely contradictory details in each, raises justifiable questions and doubts about its realism, especially its success”, Konashenkov added.

“First, no air raids were detected by U.S. aircraft or the so-called international coalition on the Idlib region to reduce the escalation within the last Saturday or the last days”, the ministry explained.

“Secondly, we are not aware of any alleged assistance to U.S. airstrikes over Idlib to reduce escalation during this operation”.

“Third, all the territory is not controlled by the Syrian government in the Idlib region to reduce escalation and it is managed and controlled by the terrorist group Al-Nusra Front, which is the Syrian arm of Al-Qaeda. This group has consistently eliminated the organization and any of its members directly on the ground relentlessly, as its main competitors for power in Syria. That is why the quiet presence of the former leader of ISIS on Syrian-controlled territory deserves separate direct evidence from the United States and other participants in the operation”.

“Finally, from the moment of the final defeat of ISIS by the Syrian government army with the support of the Russian Aerospace Force in early 2018, there is absolutely no news of a new killing of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi affecting the situation in Syria or the activities of the remaining terrorists in Idlib”.
