Russian factories for the maintenance and development of Algerian submarines: Russia to supply “Su-30 MK†fighters to Algeria

The General Manager of the Russian institution, Sergei Chemezov asserted that Moscow signed a deal to supply Algeria with a new batch of military aircrafts “SU 30 MK”, a versatile, to enable the Algerian Army to modernize and develop its air fleet.

Sergei Chemezov said in a statement reported by Novaya Gazeta; “Russia will soon deliver a batch of modern fighters to Algeria, to be received by 2011”, pointing out that the value of the deal estimated to one billion dollars. A statement that came two weeks after the Russian Institution of Military Industrialization announced providing Algeria with another batch of 16 jet fighters of the type “Su-30 MK”, in implementation of the prior agreement reached in 2006 between president Bouteflika and his former counterpart Russian president Vladimir Putin, including providing Algerian army with 28 fighters.

In a related context, NOVOSTI Russian News Agency, reported that Algerian submarines that were imported during the Soviet era and then Russia, will be subject to the maintenance and development in the Russian factories, an information that was conveyed by “NOVOSTI” quoting the spokesman for the Department of Maritime Affairs in Rosoboronexport Alexei Kozlov, on the sidelines of an Asian exhibition of arms and military equipment in Malaysia capital Kuala Lumpur from 19 to 22 April.
