Saïd Barkat: “Vaccination campaign against swine flu to start in the wake of vaccine control”

The Minister of health, population and hospital reform, Saïd Barkat, has declared that Algeria has received a first batch of 7 hundred thousand doses of vaccine against de A/H1 N1 virus, stressing that the relevant vaccination campaign will kick off gradually in the next few weeks.

Speaking yesterday during a special program on the national Radio, Saïd Barkat said that the doses of vaccine against the A/H1 N1 virus should be first submitted to a strict control at the Algiers Pasteur Institute before being distributed to the various hospitals and health centers across the national territory.

At least 2 weeks are necessary for the carrying through of these controls at the level of the Pasteur Institute, the Minister pointed out.

He also underlined that the vaccine against the swine flu virus imported by Algeria posed no danger to the citizens’ health as it had secured the official certification from the World Health Organization.

The health Minister further indicated that a financial package amounting to 12 billion dinars had been earmarked to face up to the propagation of the A/ H1 N1 virus in Algeria.
