Saadani: Bouteflika did not mean me
Secretary General of Algeria’s National Liberation Front (FLN) Amar Saadani said President Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s condolences letter following a military aircraft crash was not addressed to him.
“President Bouteflika is the national defense ministry and the superior commander of armed forces. His remarks in the letter to the chief of staff came in particular political circumstances in Algeria,” Saadani told Echorouk satellite channel.
He believes that the letter is meant to exclude the military institution from the political field.
“The president’s remarks have nothing to do with me. Every one should understand this message. The military institution has its clear constitutional prerogatives,” he said.
This comes as Saadani told a news website the intelligence department chief General Toufik failed in ensuring safety in Algeria and should resign.
