The Prime Minister of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) Abdelkader Taleb Omar, on Sunday, urged all those who back the Moroccan regime, with on focus France, to review their unjust positions towards the freedom-seeking Saharawi people while stressing the Saharawi Army’s readiness to act in order to face up to any untoward contingency.

In an address at a ceremony marking the International Labour Day, whose official celebration took place in the city of Oran (432-km west of Algiers), in the presence of Algerian and Saharawi ministers, the Sahrawi Premier Taleb Omar said Morocco and all those who support it, mainly France, have to take on their responsibility for the current stalemate and the manifold hurdles hindering the efforts made by the United Nations to thrash out a fair solution to the Western Sahara issue, while urging them to review their unjust position towards the Saharawi people.

The Saharawi Premier pointed out that France, which stands as an obstacle to the implementation of UN resolutions, ought to assume its historical responsibilities over Saharawi people’s tragedy and ordeal due to the long-running illegal Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara marked by unabated human rights violations and arbitrary arrests in blatant defiance of all basic humanitarian laws and conventions.

He called on the international community to speed up the return of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) in order to allow it to organize a referendum on Saharawi people’s self-determination, while appealing to UN secretary General Ban Ki Moon to ensure the required resources for MINURSO to resume its mission.

Mr Abdelkader Taleb Omar also urged the European Union to side with the international legitimacy concerning the long-standing Western Sahara issue.

He invited the EU to refer to the European Court’s latest decision about the trade agreement with Moroccans as well as to international court’s which denounce Morocco’s attempts to plunder Western Sahara’s natural resources under the mendacious pretext of investment.

Meanwhile, the President of the Republic, Abdellaziz Bouteflika has hailed the commendable position of the General Union of Algerian workers in favor of just causes around the world and the right of peoples to self-determination with on prime focus the Saharawi people’s legitimate right to decide on its own future, in a message marking international Labor Day.

This clear-cut position, which does it credit, is backed up by the United Nations, which has included Western Sahara in the list of non-self-governing territories since 1963,” recalled rightfully the Head of State.
