Sahel Armies Determined To Eradicate Terrorism, Gaid Saleh
Army Chief of Staff, Gaid Salah, said on Sunday that the fight against the remains of terrorism and bandits of traffickers and organized crimes will be pursued locally and territorially, including in the Sahel region.
In an allocution delivered during the 2010-2011 graduation ceremony in the Combined-Arms Academy (AMIA) in Cherchell, west of Algiers, General Gaid Saleh added that “amid such circumstances, the security coordination between armies of the four Sahel countries (Mali, Niger, Mauritania and Algeria) should be boosted to fight more efficiently the remains of terrorism in the region.”
“Peace and security are henceforth a tangible reality in our country. Its consolidation is and will be constantly a fundamental mission among those assigned to the Army, alongside all the security services,” Gaid Saleh said.
The ceremony was chaired by President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence.
The 2010-2011 graduation ceremony of three classes named after late veteran (moudjahid) Colonel Ali Mendjli.
The 39th class of officers of chief of staff and command, of the 42th class of basic education and the 4th class of the joint military basic training that has seen for the first time the integration into its ranks women sections and cadets of the National Gendarmerie and national police.
