Said Saadi sentenced to five years imprisonment over acts of vandalism

The criminal court of Algiers has treated the case of a young man whose name is similar to that of the leader of the Rally for Culture and Democracy Said Saadi.

  •
  • The defendant was charged with constituting a gang, breaching peace and assault against police vehicles during violent acts that occurred in the main street of the municipality of Belouizdad , Algiers, on December 7 and 14.
  •
  • To avoid any confusion with the party leader, the judge has switched the order of the name and called the 29 year old man Saadi Said instead of Said Saadi.
  •
  • The culprit was involved along with a number of his henchmen at large in acts of vandalism including the blocking of the road to traffic, assault against police officers and bearing weapons with blade.
  •
  • The judge has requested five years imprisonment against the main culprit and issued an arrest warrant against the others.
