Saidani tries to convince Ait Ahmed of participating in presidential elections
The national council of Algeria’s FFs party is expected to meet in an ordinary session this month to talk about the next presidential elections, its First Secretary Ahmed Batatche told Echorouk.
The FFS which is an opposition party did not announce its official position toward the elections, saying the political arena is mysterious. It waits for President Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s announcement about the elections.
The FFS avoided to join initiatives launched by other political parties about a unique candidate unanimously chosen. It says its approach about the political situation is totally different.
The party wants to hold a dialogue between all the political forces and shareholders to concretize real democracy.
Ali Aaskri, a senior member at the FFS said there is no contact with other parties to coordinate about the elections while Said Bouhedja, a spokesman for the FLN party said unofficial contact is conducted with the FFS.
“Coordination about the next elections did not exclude the FFS and the FLN’s Secretary General Amar Saidani has the prerogatives to contact any person he judges appropriate for that,” he told Echorouk.
He added that the FLN wants to have a general idea about parties’ position toward the elections. “The FFS is a traditional opposition party. It was able to defend the country.”
Earlier in September, Amar Saidani conveyed a letter to the FFS’ former leader Hocine Ait Ahmed caling on him to change his decision to withdraw from the political scene.
“The FNL wants the presidential elections to be democratic and credible,” said Bouhedja.
