Samir Zaher on the dock over stoning of Fennecs' bus ahead of Egypt-Algeria World Cup qualifier in Cairo
A prominent member of the supporters' league of Egypt's Al Ahly football squad, Fouad Amer, has revealed to the Egyptian press that the head of the Egyptian football federation, Samir Zaher, was directly involved in the stoning of the Algerian players' bus ahead of the crucial world cup qualifier which opposed Egypt and Algeria on November 12th 2009 in Cairo stadium.
-
Mr Amer Fouad asserted that Samir Zaher had instigated personally the Egyptian fans’ stoning attack on the Algerian players’ bus with the prior blessing of the son of former President Moubarak, namely Alaa Moubarak who had stoked the tensions behind the scenes, he said.
- He stressed that the aim of the premeditated attack was meant to intimidate the Algerian players and undermine their frame of mind ahead of the Cairo world cup qualifier which was held in horrendous conditions owing to the blameworthy acts of provocations and aggression of the part of the Egyptians inside and outside the Cairo stadium.
- He said that such a low-down plot had been hatched by Zaher and his henchmen in order to wrench a victory by the Egyptian national squad over Algeria at all costs even through blameworthy and dishonest means.
