Score scale politicized to exaggerate Baccalaureate results

Teachers called on education ministry to use scoring scale based on 11.5 out of 20 instead of 9.50 which is currently applied in the Baccalaureate exams correction.

Teachers believe that the current score scale reflects a political practice to exaggerate Baccalaureate scores.

Coordinator of high school teachers Larbi Nouar said the current score scale helps pupils who get 8 out of 20 and not average pupils. “This is an unbalanced way.”

President of education and training workers’ national union suggested to take in account behavior, pedagogical process and annual scores in the Baccalaureate exams final score.

According to press attaché at the national union of high school teachers accused the exams national office and education ministry of pushing pupils to learn lessons by heart through the exam questions nature.

He said Baccalureate candidates who protested against the exams difficulty are used to learn lesson by heart and not understand them.
