Security expert to Echourouk: Ain Amenass military assault will not drag Algerian forces to Mali.

The former security officer and expert Mohamed Chafik Mesbah has indicated to Echourouk that the latest military assault carried out by the Algerian military forces against a group of terrorists that held hostages in the gas facility of Ain Amenas, will not change the Algerian standpoint over the crisis in Mali.

Replying on a question over the probability that Algeria will intervene militarily to chase the terrorists in northern Mali, the expert has asserted that “ this probability is inconceivable” , noting that Algeria is resolute not to intervene militarily in any other foreign country.

Mesbah went on saying that the latest military action has made things clear now and reinstated the Algerian sovereignty, that it lost according to him, after opening its airspace to the French warplanes in order to dislodge the terrorists in Northern Mali.

The military action “ is a approve that Algeria has retrieved its political and military sovereignty” , he said.

The expert has indicated that the “ Ain Amenass operation comes to confirm the Algerian standpoint over counterterrorism fight which is the firm principle of not negotiating with the criminals or paying ransoms”.

“ The situation would have reached dramatic proportions if not the intervention of the military troops in Tigantourine gas facility”, he added. The superpowers are aware that it is almost impossible to spare lives in such cases, noting that the most successful operation to date goes back to 20 years ago when the Israeli Special Forces freed hostages in the airport of Uganda.
