Security Services Tighten Control At Airports, Ports To Prevent Spies From Infiltrating Algeria

Security services in their various research squads and investigation teams of the gendarmerie, police and intelligence have tightened control over the air, sea and land borders, after receiving confirmed information about the attempts of foreigners, especially French, to enter Algeria, for the purpose of testing the current situation in the country and transmitting detailed reports on the popular movement and the presidential elections that are scheduled for December 12.

According to Echorouk sources, instructions have been given to the competent security services, to intensify the investigation and control of all flights, especially air flights from and towards Turkey, Belgium and a number of European and Arab countries, through inspection and scrutiny of suspicious passengers, with a careful examination of their passports and identity documents, especially after the security services of Algiers international airport, Houari Boumediene, arrested last weekend, foreign nationals of French nationality with passports containing false identity, coming from the flight “Istanbul – Algiers”, on the grounds that they are Turkish to disguise security services, and they were intercepted after being subject to an investigation as investigators remarked that speak good French.

Before that, the security services in the province of Bejaia (eastern Algiers) arrested, on Tuesday, a French member of parliament that participated in student protests, where she entered the Algerian territories with another MP and admitted the meeting that gathered her with political activists in the parties of the Rally for Culture and Democracy (RCD) and the Social Democratic Movement (MDS).

Previously, Maj. Gen. Ahmed Gaid Saleh, Deputy Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army, warned of those foreigners who are trying to “hunt in troubled waters” when he said: “I have already indicated on many occasions that there are hostile external parties in Algeria. They are trying to interfere in its internal affairs, with blatant complicity with the gangs at homeland, and we warn them against playing with fire through their desperate attempts that aim primarily at destabilizing the security of Algeria and its people which fought a unique liberation revolution, thanks to which and thanks to the sacrifices of the convoys of martyrs, Algerians won freedom and independence and they are today enjoying full sovereignty in their homeland”.
