Lawyers’ protest reached on Tuesday the second day in Algiers, as they boycotted the judicial hearings at the level of the five courts of the capital’s Judicial Council, where members of the syndicate decided to postpone the issues to a later date, pending Parliament’s resolution which will decide about the “attorneys’ bill”, since lawyers demanded the withdrawal of articles that make the profession dependent and under the tutelage of the Justice Ministry.

Some lawyers told Echorouk that they are afraid of the ratification of the “bill” which they considered opposing the agreement, which brought together the Minister of Justice and the Federation’s Council with the participation of 15 syndicalist, at the national level, who demanded postponement and the ratification of the bill until amended as requested by the lawyers.

“We are ready to go out to the street and escalate the protest if the Legal Committee at the level of parliament will not respond to our suggestions”, the same position was confirmed by the syndicalist, Sellini Abdelmajid, who said that; “If the project will be approved as it, we will collect the signatures of 28000 lawyers, and we will go out to the street, and we’ll not accept the insult on the profession.”
