Sheikh Djaballah Announces New Party
Sheikh Abdellah Djaballah has announced on Saturday the birth of his new party, entitled the Development and Justice Front (FDJ).
Mr Djabellah’s new political formation has been revealed in a meeting held in Zeralda locality, western Algiers, with the presence of partisans of the moderate Islamist politician and several members of the dissolved FIS party.
At this occasion, Sheikh Djabellah said the political arena needs the emergence of new political forces, stressing that his party is not a new formation in the parties map.
He further mentioned that the wind of the Arab Spring will blow on Algeria, one day.
Sheikh Djabellah indicated that his party does represent no risk on any other party or institution, or even the regime.
Yet, the Islamist politician said there is a gap between the people and the regime, defending however on the fact to reinforce the opposition ranks with new parties, saying: “A strong opposition can only serve the sovereignty and independence of the country,” stressing that: “FDJ is not a new party, given that we’ve been existing in the scene for ages, but we only need a title!”
However, sources close to Sheikh Djabellah told Echorouk that the latter has got strong guarantees from the regime to accredit his party, should he file a demand to the Ministry of Interior as by next week.
To recall, Sheikh Abdellah Djaballah used to be the leader of the Movement for National Reform (al-Iṣlaḥ), an Islamist political party that he led in a breakout from the Renaissance Party (al-Nahda), which he had created but lost control over.
