Slimani Ready To Reduce His Salary In Exchange For Staying In Europe
Algerian international, Islam Slimani, is ready to reduce his salary in exchange for achieving what it described as a “dream”, by moving to the French club Olympique de Marseille in this January, French media said.
Slimani is currently earning an annual salary of 3 million euros with Leicester City, an amount that exceeds the financial capabilities of OMarseille and AS Saint-Etienne clubs which are interested to join him.
In this regard, Slimani decided to make great financial sacrifices to return to the French League again, as he expressed his readiness to take an unexpected step, which is to agree to reduce his annual wage to achieve his dream of joining the French club OMarseille, especially as he has great knowledge of the French league after his remarkable brilliance with Monaco last season, according to the French tv channel “L’Equipe”.
Slimani seeks to change the atmosphere during the winter transfer period, in light of his exit from the accounts of Brendan Rodgers, the “Foxes” coach.
It seems that Slimani is behind this step, seeking to continue playing at major European levels, instead of moving to one of the Gulf championships, despite receiving many offers recently from Saudi and Qatari clubs.
The former Algiers’ CRBelouizdad star made strong levels with AS Monaco during the last edition of the “League 1”, scoring 9 goals and making 7 more during 16 matches.
Slimani is very popular in the French city of Marseille, which includes a large number of third-generation immigrants from North Africa, where fans see him as the player who can help the team achieve its goals during the current season.
