Smail Mimoune to Echorouk: “The price of fish is mind-boggling on account of the anarchy gripping the sea resources market”

In a statement to the newspaper “Echorouk”, the minister of fisheries and sea resources, Smail Mimoune, largely dwelt on the contribution of his sector in terms of new job opportunities in the framework of the promotion and upgrading of national production.  

• He said, to this effect, that the fisheries sector had benefited from not less than 589 projects related to the achievement of new harbour infrastructures, notably in the wesstern part of the country.
• The main objective, said the minister, is to readjust the  consumers’ purchasing power by giving a new impetus to national production through the fostering of profit-yielding investments in the fisheries sector in order to make it more competitive.
• Smail Mimoune further indicated the government was ready to prop up financially by up to 30% any new reliable investment in the fisheries and sea resources sector, with a view to curbing unemployment notably among the Algerian youth.
