Snow strands thousands in Eastern Algeria

Heavy snow fall in eastern parts of Algeria has caused widespread disrupt on roads and cut off villages in remote areas.

Thousands of villagers were not able to get food supply and heating gas. Traffic accidents also caused casualties due to the harsh weather conditions.

Several main roads have been closed in the province of Medea. Snow fall caused traffic disruption between the provinces of Bedjaia and Setif at the locality of Ait Nawal and between Setif and Bordj Bouarerridj at the locality of Guenzat.

Four people were injured when a bus slid at the locality of Ain Arak in the province of Bayadh. The harsh weather conditions rose concerns of the population living in old buildings in the province of Saida.
