Social Insurance: The government council to take new measures of struggle against non-declaration of employees

The Algerian government is scheduled to examine during a council's meeting today a set of amendments to the law on social insurance.

  • The new amendments brought to the relevant law of July 1983 provide for the introduction of fresh measures aimed at bolstering the fight against those employers who don’t declare their employees to the social insurance services.
  •
  • This shady and illegal practice by certain employers is widespread in some sectors of activity and is motivated by the fact that these venal employers want to avoid paying taxes by not declaring their employees.
  •
  • Well informed sources say that the minister of employment and social security, Tayeb Louh, will put forth to the members of the government the draft law altering and completing law n° 83.11 related to social insurance.
  •
  • The new law provides for tough sanctions and heavy fines against all trespassers who don’t respect the law by making mendacious declarations to the relevant services about the status of their employees.
  •
  • In a separate file, the Interior Minister will unveil during this council’s meeting fresh security measures intended to be taken in and around the Sahel state Residence located at Club des Pins on the western coast of Algiers.
