Sonatrach scandals: Italy uncovers the company's secrets

Italy Saipam’s Board of Directors decided to refer the international corruption file over paying bribes to officials at the National Company of Hydrocarbons “Sonatrach”, to the trial, where a number of officials in the company, including managers will be present before the Court of Milan soon, what paves the way for uncovering secrets and scandals in the case of Sonatrach and Saipam bribes, but certainly the public opinion will discover the important information and secrets about the largest Algerian company from foreign sources.

Decision by the company’s Board to refer the case of “Saipam – Sonatrach” to trial, came after an internal investigation and in-depth study by Italian and foreign experts, on the number of contracts which were signed by the company about a number of projects in Algeria, as a statement by the company’s board published on its official website, shows that the internal investigation referred to mediation and brokerage transactions in the contracts with the Algerian side.

Internal investigation, according to a statement by the company actually based in the “San Donato Milanesi,” Milan, was based on the process of scrutiny of documents and interviews with many company employees and employees of “Eni”, the statement added: “Apparently, these employees have been involved in the conclusion of Algerian Sonatrach deals with the knowledge of the management of Saipam”.

Saipam’s bpard concluded to direct administrative and legal procedures to refer the issue of corruption which has reached the public prosecutor’s office of the Court of Milan, to the trial and the appearance of the accused, as high officials and Managers in the company, will attend the trial at the Court of Milan north of the country.
