South African chargé d'affaires in Algiers: “The Greens and their fans will receive a hearty welcome in South Africa”
Taking the floor during a press conference on Monday at the premises of the South African Embassy in Algiers, the chargé d'affaires of this diplomatic representation, Kaya Somagakiza, said that the Algeria football squad and their supporters would receive a hearty welcome in South Africa on the occasion of the 2010 World cup tournament.

Mr. Kaya Somagakiza seized the opportunity of this encounter with the press to bring some clarifications about the modalities of the Algerian fans’ planned trip to South Africa on the occasion of the 2010 World cup contest.

He explained that any Algerian citizen possessing a valid passport, a plane ticket and entry ticket to South African stadiums could take the plane to South Africa directly without coming to the South African Embassy for getting a visa, which is not compulsory, as he put it.

He added that the Embassy officials had already given the necessary instructions to the South African border police services in order to facilitate the entry of the Algerian football fans on South African soil.

The South African chargé d’affaires further indicated the South African authorities would spare no effort to make the stay of all the Algerian fans in South Africa most enjoyable on the occasion of the upcoming World cup contest and highlighted by the same token the long-standing relations of friendship and brotherhood existing between Algeria and South Africa.
