Spanish Forensics Identify Bodies of 5 Algerian Illegal Migrants

Forensics Institute in Murcia in Spain has identified 5 dead corpses of illegal migrants who perished in mid October on the coast of Cartagena, southern Spain.

The identification of the dead corpses was conducted thanks to the DNA of the victims’ family members, an activist of rights of illegal migrants in Spain told Echorouk reporter.

The source further specified that under instruction of a Spanish court, experts at the Forensics Institute in Murcia have recently been to Oran and Mostaganem provinces, west of Algeria, where they summoned presumed family members of the victims, to the Spanish consulate in Oran, where they took of them samples of their DNA.

The DNA samples were matching the samples of the dead corpses of the 5 illegal migrants in question. The results have been sent for approval to the Forensics National Institute in Madrid, in order to expatriate the dead corps back to Algeria.

On 12 October, Spanish coast guards have found dead corpses of 3 illegal migrants near Cartagena coast, and three days later two other dead corpses were found in the same area, noting that 5 other illegal migrants were rescued.
