Spanish Visa To be Extended From One To Two Years

The Spanish General Consulate in Algeria announced that the validity of the last Schengen visa obtained by Algerian nationals for a period of one year will be extended to two years.

This procedure comes in light of the measures taken due to the Covid19, while new measures will be applied to book appointments as of the next June,3.

A statement issued by the “BLS Center” for depositing the Spanish visa said that this procedure pertains only to the visas that were issued by the “BLS” Center for the Spanish visa in the state of Oran (western Algeria), indicating that the last visa that is valid for a year granted to Algerian nationals will be extended to two years on the current date, without providing details of the current date.

Concerning the Spanish visa applications filed by the Algerians before March 17, 2020, and which are currently in the processing stage at the level of the Spanish General Consulate in Algiers, the owners will be notified via SMS about the status of their applications.

According to the same statement, the process of contacting the Visa Center assigned new measures, as of June 3, as all calls will be recorded for security and transparency purposes, and when calling, appointments can be reserved for up to 4 people.

The new measures stipulated that people who call the call centre have at least one Schengen visa issued by the Spanish consulate before, and they must also send by email the examination of the previous visa, and also provide a copy on the day of filing it.

The fixed-line number used to join the call centre must be in the name of the applicant, and the applicant must provide the original, in addition to a copy of the invoice for the fixed-line to attach it to his/her application file, and the bill/contract must be in the name of the applicant.

For the elderly and the handicapped, they must present the same contract for the bill or telephone for a close relative, or for a family member whose bill or contract is in his name.
