Stolen pieces of antiquities retrieved by Algerian security forces
The national gendarmerie services have dismantled an international network comprising 11 individuals specialized in the smuggling of Ottoman, Roman and Phoenician antiquities that they sold through CDs.

More than rare 100 pieces have been seized including the statuette representing Adrino’s wife, the empress Foskina.

The investigators have collected intelligence over a group of traffickers operating in various provinces of the county including, Adrar, Tiaret , Tizi- Ouzou, Bouira, Ghilizane Blida and Setif.

One of the culprits, S. R ( 53) used a CD to show the rare pieces of antiquities to the potential clients. The same sources have revealed that the pieces seized in the province of Bouira included war swords and coins.

In the light of the intelligence collected by the investigators, the national gendarmerie agents have intercepted five individuals in a car in eastern Algiers. The culprits were transporting 8 small cups, 3 swords and 32 photographs showing antiquities from the National Museum of Arts.
