Study : $ 50 billion of bread in the Algerian dust bins annually
A study carried out by the National Institution for Health Promotion and Research Development ( FOREM) revealed that the Algerian consumers throw nearly $ 5 million of bread in the trash cans during the holy month of Ramadhan.

This means the Algerians throw 1 billion Algerian Dinars of bread in the trash cans daily, while the great majority of the consumers complain about the deterioration of their purchasing power and the spread of poverty.

In a declaration to Echourouk yesterday the professor Khiati has indicated that bread was the most consumed food product among the Algerians but the most squandered also, as the total value thrown bread is estimated at approximately $ 50 million annually.

The study has revealed that the value of squandered bread hiked from $40 million in 2000 to $ 50 million in 2010. The phenomenon reaches its peak during the holly month of Ramadan, the study revealed.
