Terrorism: Leader of “Al Marikh” battalion gets 20 years prison: “My mission was providing firewood and reading Quran on killed terrorists”

Terrorist “El Hachemi. R”, leader of “Al Marikh” battalion specialized in kidnapping wealthy businessmen in the Kabylie region, tried to convince judges of the Criminal Court of Tizi Ouzou, east of Algiers, on Tuesday that his mission was bringing firewood and reading the Holy Quran to terrorists who are ill or who were killed by the Algerian armed forces.

 The terrorist tried hard to deny charges against him, including joining a terrorist group which spread terror among the population and create insecurity and kidnappings for getting ransoms.

He asserted that during his career as a terrorist he had never participated in a crime and denied that of kidnapping a businessman “A.Madjid” in the region for a ransom worth 10.000.00b dianrs.

The criminal court sentenced him to 20 years prison.
