The Algerian community settled abroad has appealed to the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to expedite the opening of the borders and lift the restrictions that prevent their return to the homeland, calling on him to cancel the pre-license requirement imposed by the government to enter Algeria.

The Algerian community abroad called on President Tebboune to lift restrictions on their movement to the homeland in a way that allows them to enter Algeria after more than eight months of closure due to Covid 19 pandemic, stressing their respect for the guarantees and health conditions in place.

A statement addressed by the community members settled overseas to President Tebboune said: “Out of your sense of the difficulty of alienation, we call on you to abolish the pre-license condition imposed by the government on the entry of Algerians, as it is not acceptable for an Algerian to request a permit to enter his country”.

Algerians in the Diaspora went on to say: “There is no doubt that you know the depth of the suffering that afflicted the Algerian community in various countries of the world, and our hope is that the problems of the community and citizens stranded abroad would be among the priorities of your attention and the government at this stage, so as to end this suffering that cannot be solved with a few flights as this do not fulfill the purpose and do not solve a major dilemma the community has endured,” stressing that they are no longer able to have more patience, especially since the length of the period has caused complex and intertwined problems for families and individuals in their family relationships and social conditions.

According to the Algerian community in the diaspora, during this harsh period they were subjected to various kinds of humiliation, as most of them were displaced amid great abuse, beset by bureaucracy and were subjected to bad treatment.

The community members also did not hesitate to express their great happiness at the president’s return home from his treatment period in Germany, saying, “We thank God Almighty for your recovery and your generous return to the country, and we wish you permanent good health and well-being” .
