Four years after the Algerian government signed the partnership agreement with French car-maker Renault, and almost two years after the launch of the “Symbol” car plant in Oran (western Algeria), car-manufacturers based in the country with their accredited dealerships are racing against the clock with a view to opening factories for the production of new vehicles and assembling units across the 48 provinces of Algeria.

These include Peugeot, Volkswagen, Fiat, Nissan, Hyundai, Ford and others, through a foreign partnership under the government’s rule of investment 51%/49%, and some of them are said to be keen to open vehicle assembly units at the rate of 100 percent.

However, car dealerships based in Algeria are still awaiting clarifications from the relevant ministry about the proper procedures and conditions set for the projected opening of such vehicle assembling and manufacturing units in various parts of the national territory.
