The oldest Algerian painter in Paris
PARIS-The oldest Algerian painter Leila Ferhat exhibiting her paintings in Paris Thursday, semi-figurative works ranging from the experiences and dreams. Her thirty paintings, exhibited Algerian Cultural Center in Paris, combine authenticity and modernity in a profusion of color and movement.
The scene of the elegant modern woman dancing, dressed in a tutu, that of the Tuareg woman playing Tindi (traditional instrument), these are images drawn from everyday life that are returned by the artist.
The beautiful oasis of Algeria highlighting the tan and the Tuareg man preparing tea are the other topics covered by Leila Ferhat, whose inspiration, she says, are drawn from the substance of experience and the dream.”
“I’m in the semi-figurative.But most of my works are inspired by the everyday life of Algerian woman driven by the desire to transmit, without referring to any classic school, clear and accurate messages,” she told APS, at the opening of her exhibition late Wednesday.
