Three imams suspended over disrespectful behaviour
The Religious Affairs Ministry has decided to suspend three imams from the province of Bejaia, 200 KMs, eastern Algiers, as a preventive measure pending their appearance before the disciplinary commission soon, Echourouk has learnt.
- The three imams refused to stand up at the hearing of the national anthem during a seminar held in the region of “Saida” on the occasion of the celebrations of the outbreak of the revolution on November 1, reliable sources have revealed.
- The meeting brought together 120 clerics including the three imams that took part to a training session at this school for 45 days.
- The same sources have indicated that a thorough assessment was sent to the relevant ministry over the case.
- The event brings to memories the case of five other imams who were sanctioned by the ministry here in Algiers when they refused to respect the national anthem.
