Tottenham's Bentaleb set to opt for Algeria squad ahead of 2014 World Cup campaign
Whiz-kid footballer, Nabil Bentaleb, could reserve a place in the Algerian national football squad in this year World Cup in Brazil as national team coach Vahid Halilhodzic showed keen interest in the Franco-Algerian player following strong performances with the English Premier League’s Tottenham Hotspurs during Boxing Day.
The young midfielder Nabil Bentaleb is a top target for the Desert Warriors before their World Cup campaign and he is said to have finally opted for the Algeria line-up, according to reliable sources who apprised Echorouk of such a salutary decision.
The interest in calling up Nabil Bentaleb to wear the Algerian colours was also confirmed by sources close to the Algerian Football Federation (FAF).
The 19-year old talented midfielder joined the English club of the Spurs of Tottenham last summer but he made his first appearance in December 2013 and has played five times so far with much success.
The French-born player of Algerian parents played for France’s youth national team but he is still eligible for the Desert Warriors of Algeria because he didn’t make any senior appearance with the French national side.
National coach Vahid Hallilhodzic is firmly intent on further bolstering the Algeria football squad with the possible inclusion of Nabil Bentaleb in expectation of the upcoming World Cup tournament to be hosted starting from mid-June by Brazil.
The Algeria team highly earned their fourth qualification for the FIFA World Cup contest and were drawn in Group H alongside Belgium, Russia and South Korea.
