Tough Security Plan in the Sahara to Anticipate Kidnapping Operations

Security authorities have started implementing tough security measures to safeguard tourist attraction spots and places hosting foreign workers in the south of Algeria, well informed source said.

 

Army special forces are conducting land and air control over desert off-tracks in the east-north of Ain Salah locality on border with Tamenrasset and Adrar southern provinces and the border-area between Ghardaia and Ouargla, to anticipate any terror intrusion willing to kidnap Westerners.

This security operation aims also at foiling trafficking attempts to dump the North African nation with narcotic and Libyan looted arms.

The sources mentioned that the air force commandment in the southern region of Algeria has multiplied the presence of troops and backed them with special force units and fighter helicopters.

Security has been toughened along oil and gas plants and pipelines, in addition to westerners working there, through increasing the number of troops there.
