Tourism in Sahara : Large numbers of foreign tourists to celebrate New Year South of Algeria

More than 2.300 tourists from various countries are visting the south regions of Algeria, particuarly the city Djanet in Illizi, in order to celebrate the New Year 2010, said the Directorate of Tourism Wednesday

.A number of foreign tourists reached the region of Tassili, according to the Director of Tourism, through regular flights innitiated by the airlines, including Air Algerie, and other European airlines from several European citie.

In the same context, General Manager of the Algerian National Office of Tourism in Djanet, South of Algeria, said  other groups of European tourists will join the region next weekend, as they chose the site of Tadraret for the the New Year’s celebrations.

The same official said there is a significant development in the accomodation services at the level of hotels currently available in Djanet, South of Algeria, where all the hotels are full, like Tiniri Hotel  favored by the French tourists, reserved from the next Janury 2, thing which proves, according to the same spokesman, « the achievment of a successful tourism season ».

Despite the improvment recorded on accommodation services, the tourist city Djanet needs other reception services so that the Office could respond to requests of tourists who visit Algeria during the whole year in order to pass their annual or some local events.

For its part, in anticipation of these celebrations, the tourist agencies in Djanet prepared a lot of programs along with their foreign counterparts in order to organize tourist tours across the Tassili region, particularly in the famous tourist sites for the tourists.

The General Manager of Tourism said : « Development of tourism in the locality due to the security and peace in the region, thing which would allow a better future for the tourism sector in Algeria, in order to achieve sustainable development after the tourism in desert regained its vitality ».

Among the tourist areas that attract Algerian and foreign tourists during the end of the year, the village of Ihrir, 230 km north of Djanet, which is replete with wonderful nature, said the representative of the travel agencies of Djanet, Boughrari Mohamed.

The famous tourist sites of Tadrart, Admer, Tikapouine, Tigharghart and Assendiline, are also waiting the arrival of European tourists in order to spend enjoyable moments in the Tassili.

In the framework of preparations for the New Year’s celebrations, Algerian services prepared many cultural, artistic and folkloric programs, which will be organized across all tourist areas.
