Relations between Algeria and Tunisia are above all circumstantial considerations, Defense Minister Tunisian, Rachid Sbbaa said at the Political National Council (parliament).

“Ongoing security cooperation has succeeded in neutralizing one of the largest terrorist groups that were active in the mountain of Al Chaabni near Algeria’s Eastern border”, he added.

“Relationships between the two countries, especially between the two armies are powerful, and cooperation will be enhanced in order to capture terrorists who active in mountains of Al Chaabani. We will continue military operations to hunt down the terrorists to arrest or kill them.”

Statement by the Tunisian Defense Minister came after the announcement of the National People’s Army on the Elimination of three terrorists at the borders between the two countries, which have monitored their movements when they were chased by the Tunisian army.

Previously the Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Othman Al Jarendi, visited on Tuesday Algeria for a two days’ working visit, on a mission to dismantle the mines of the crisis that was triggered by political parties and Tunisian media, which had accused Algeria of involvement in the events experienced by its eastern neighbor, the charges, which were denounced by the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs.

Othman Al Jarendi said after his arrival at the airport Houari Boumediene, that his visit falls within the framework of “continuous consultation that has never stopped” between the two countries, and pointed out that this visit will also be another occasion to exchange views on a wide range of topics, both in terms of bilateral uprising or to discuss the situation emerging in the region or at the international level, a consultation that was carried out by the two parties “whenever the need arises,” the spokesman added.
