In its final resolutions concerning the Algerian third periodical report, the UN commission against the use of torture has called for a genuine taking in charge of the sexually abused women by the terrorist groups, through a medical and psychological assistance.

The 41st session of the UN commission based in Geneva wound up after examining reports of 8 UN members including Algeria in which it issued a resolution saying that “ the UN commission received intelligence concerning thousands abuses on women carried out by terrorists during the black decade.”

None the less the commission pinpointed to some “positive aspects” in the periodical report presented by the Algerian delegation led by Idriss Al Djazaeeri, including the denouncing of torture and the freezing of the death penalty since 1993. The commission also hailed the Algerian initiative to carry on its national reconciliation project.

The Algerian delegation once again insisted on the fact that the charter for peace and national reconciliation was the people’s exclusive property and was not subjected to any questioning, but the UN commission brought back to the table the file of the repentant and called on the Algerian authorities to provide them with the names of the lost people since 1990.
