Unions pressure for a higher minimum wage
More than 24 thousand temporary workers in the health sector have called on the health minister Djamel Oueld Abbas to intervene by the Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia in a move to benefit from their salaries blocked since January.

They have also requested to be integrated in their posts as full time employees.

Talking yesterday in a press conference, the chief of the SNAPSAT Union M Maalaoui has summoned the tripartite to raise the minimum wage to 20 Thousand Algeria Dinars in addition to a tax cut on the income in a move to secure the purchasing power of the citizens.

Talking on behalf of the health sector’s personnel , the Union’s spokesman Ali Khemissi has denounced the absence of a training program since 2009 despite the allocation of a budget by the government for this purpose.

Several problems pertaining to the sector have been raised during this press conference including the acts of violence that the professionals are prone while on duty. The speakers have slammed at the successive ministers who led the sector since 1999 but failed short in their mission.
