Algeria international and Portsmouth midfielder Hassan Yebda insists he does not want to follow Algeria team-mate Nadir Belhadj out of the club.

• Belhadj has confirmed that he is unhappy at Fratton Park and that he wants to leave in January to ensure his place in the national squad for next year’s World Cup in South Africa.
• However, unlike Belhadj, 25-year-old Yebda has been a regular performer for Pompey so far this season and has made 11 appearances this term.
• He scored the winning goal in Portsmouth’s first victory of the Premier League campaign against Wolves and is happy at the South Coast club.
• “The first thing is to keep Portsmouth in the Premier League,” he said in the Daily Express.
• “We are in a bad situation but we have good players and I think we will stay up.
• “I am very happy at the club and I would like to stay in English football, hopefully here.”
• Previously, Yebda expressed his excitement about playing for the first time in a World Cup competition, telling the BBC; “I’m excited because it may be the only opportunity in my life. The draw was good with Slovenia, USA and England. It would be very difficult, as England has very good players like Gerard and Rooney”.
• “The US team showed a good performance during the confederation cup and it is also a dangerous team”.
• “We have to play well in order to win. I think that the game will be difficult for all the teams. The English team is the best in this group”.
• Portsmouth is currently bottom of the Premier League although they picked up their first win under new manager Avram Grant on Saturday, 2-0 against Burnley.
• They travel to the Stadium of Light this weekend to face a Sunderland side that has an excellent home record.
