US Algerians are associated to the revolution not terrorism : CAIR's Director

In an interview to Echourok online, ) the Executive Director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Nihad Awadh talks from Washington DC about how the Algerian nationals are portrayed in a country which draws a parallel between Muslims and terrorism.

• How are really the Algerians based in US viewed by the media which links them to terrorism?
• Actually, and through my thorough analysis of the political debate around the issue her in the US, it is scarce that to find a correlation between an individual from a given country to the terrorist acts, what happens here is that Islam is associated to the Muslims’ mean behaviours regardless of their nationalities.

• As to the Algerians, they are associated to bravery, dignity, honor and freedom. The US Muslims associate Algeria with the million and half martyrs and the country is a model for many Arabs and Muslims worldwide, its image is furbished within the US and outside.
•  So Algeria and Algerians are not mired despite media uproar?
•  Algeria and Algerians are viewed as heroes and didn’t recall any kind of media campaign against this country, if we exclude some isolated cases during the black decade, but the US Arabs and Muslims are not comprised in one or two countries.
