Visa Procedures And Settlement Of Documents For Algerians Born Before 1962 Must Be Facilitated

In a message sent to French President Emmanuel Macron, of which “Echorouk” received a copy, the president of the Algerian Union in France, Mouafak Badoui, said that he had asked French President Emmanuel Macron to scrap lingering obstacles to visa procedures and facilitate granting them to Algerians, especially after the recent extremist harassment meted out to them in France.

He thus called on the French President for the need to further upgrade relations between the two countries after the election of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, hoping that the latter would visit the Algerian community members residing in France.

Mouafak Badoui revealed in a statement to “Echorouk” that the content of the message sent to French President Macron included, in the first place, the relations between the two countries and their improvement for the better to serve the interests of the two countries, stressing that they focused on procedures to facilitate the granting of visas to Algerians, as the Algerians, he stated, are the largest community settled in France in terms of the census, and for that, the procedures must be eased to enable them to see their families notably for those who cannot travel to Algeria.

The President of the Algerian Union in France spoke about the election of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, expressing his hopes to see him schedule a visit to France and in particular to meet members of the Algerian community in France and listen to their preoccupations, recalling that the Algerian expats in France are a force to be reckoned with as many of them can serve their country of origin.

Our interlocutor also pointed out that a visit by President Tebboune to France is necessary to contact the Algerians living there, as it can further strengthen the relations between the two countries, especially in the cultural, social, academic and sporting aspects, noting that the Algerian-French exchanges should be diversified more and not be confined to the trading sector only.

He also was keen to recall the historical aspect between the two countries, and expressed the need to turn the page of the past and leave that to historians between the two countries, in order to develop positive aspects that would enhance trade relations and serve the interests of both countries, while calling for the need to shore up everything related to the definition of customs and traditions between the people of Algeria and France.

He finally stated at the end of his message that the issue of Algerians born before July 22, 1962 should be settled by facilitating the granting of citizenship to Algerians as they were born in the context of certain historical frameworks.
