Wanted terrorist threatens to blow up the US embassy in Algiers
A terrorist affiliated with Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb has threatened to blow up the US embassy in Algiers if the banned Islamic party, the Islamic Front of Peace ( FIS) is not recognized as legitimate political party, fixing a deadline of a month to the US diplomat in Algiers to fulfil his demand.
A reliable source revealed to Echourouk that the terrorist has threatened the US consul through messages on the basis that he belongs to AQIM based in Algeria, vowing to blow up the embassy within a month at the latest if the banned party is not recognized as a legal one.
Following a complaint lodged by the Consul on 22 August 2011, the judicial police of Algiers have opened an inquiry that revealed that the anonymous letters were sent to the US embassy in Algiers using an assumed name.
But further investigations wound up with revealing the identity of the terrorist who is in fact wanted by the security forces since 1995 as an active member in the terrorist groups and involved in many crimes.
The terrorist has acknowledged the charges and was put under custody by the prosecutor of the court of Bimandreis, pending further investigations.
