Will Algeria Internationals Contribute Financially To Stem Coronavirus Risk In Italy?

Former Italian football star Alessandro Mazzola called on Monday his country’s football championship players to contribute financially to stem Coronavirus spread.

Italy is the most affected country in Europe by the Coronavirus, and the local Olympic Committee called, on Monday, to freeze sports activities until the third of April.

Alessandro Mazzola suggested that each player can give 5% of his wages to the Italian Health Ministry, which in turn transfers the funds to hospitals and scientific research, to neutralize the risk of the Coronavirus.

This came, according to the Italian press which quoted the legend of Inter, on Monday evening, as saying that Alessandro Mazzola (77) won with the Italian national team the European Nations Cup 1968, and reached the World Cup final in Mexico in 1970, and he also won the Champions League Cup with Inter Milan in 1964 and 1965, and he won large and expensive coronations as well.

Four Algerian internationals play in the Italian championship: Defenders Faouzi Ghoulam (Napoli), Mohamed Fares (Spal), midfielder Ismael Bennacer (AC Milan) and the striker Rachid Ghezzal (Fiorentina).

Faouzi Ghoulam receives an annual wage of 2.4 million euros, Ismael Bennacer receives an annual salary of 1.5 million euros, and Ghezzal receives an annual salary of one million euros, and Mohamed Fares receives an annual salary of 350,000 euros.
