Winds of protests to blow the start of the school year in Algeria
Syndicates of Algerian Teachers say they are ready to launch a series of strikes and protests with the start of the school year on Sunday.
Teachers are determined to protest against injustice in their right as guaranteed by the law on education on the classification and promotion, and the inequality in the compensatory system fixed at 25% in retroactive effect from January 2008 to the basis of the basal wage contrary to the rest of sectors which got between 40 and 80% and more than 100% for some others.
In the same context, the national syndicate for assistants of education said that it will launch an open strike that will not end until the meeting of the national office, the next week end after five days, as stated by Mourad Terfi, National Coordinator of Assistants of Education to Echorouk; “The meeting of the Education Minister Ben Bouzid and the Secretary General and Manager of the Ministry’s Cabinet on Thursday in order to negotiate their demands related primarily to upgrading the post of advisor of education and classification in class 10. Their demands which were subject of consideration did not lead to concrete solutions that would stop the national strike declared days ago”.
