Confident of being fit: Former Portsmouth midfielder Hassan Yebda expects to play for Algeria at the World Cup
Algeria's ex-Portsmouth star Hassan Yebda is confident of being fit to face England next month.
- The Benfica midfielder spent last season on loan at Pompey but missed the FA Cup final against Chelsea with a thigh injury.
- Yebda, 26, who could make his comeback in Friday’s friendly against Ireland, said: ‘I am in doing stretching sessions, which are usually the last thing to do before being back in with the squad.
- ‘I am feeling better and better but I don’t want to take silly risks. At the moment I am not sure about the match against Ireland, but we will see.’
- England face Algeria in their second Group C game in Cape Town on June 18.
