Presiding judge Sheikh Saleh ibn Muhammad Al-Talib announced that the girl trusted the criminal who tempted her. Yet, she discovered that another Yemeni man surrounded her. He decided to run away and jumped from the 15th floor of the hotel to preserve her honour. She fell to her death. Investigations showed that she was not sexually assaulted.
Earlier, Attorney General sought death penalty against the criminal. Investigations showed that the girl threw herself to not be raped. The Yemeni was accused of misleading her and causing her death.
Experts in Saudi law say the sentence is very strict. If the criminal had thrown the victim, he would have been sentenced to death.
It is not known whether the sentence would be the last part of the case or it would cause other cases such as calls to sentence the criminal to death.
