Zakri to Echorouk: new French Council of Muslim Faith will be more efficient

Elections of the French Council of Muslim Faith, which begin today, will be the most credible compared to those that took place two years ago, to review the system and the conditions of participation, Abdellah Zakri, memeber of the French Council of Islamic Religion said.

Zakri, who is also head of the French Observatory for the fight against Islamophobia, that he boycotts as the faction that participated in the previous elections, and which was represented by the faction affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, and considered his withdrawal which came after failing in his attempt to positioning through blackmailing the rest of the sensitivities that are represented in the council.

The spokesman said, in a phone conversation with Echorouk from France: “We tried for three days to convince the faction of the Muslim Brotherhood to the need to participate and avoid the scenario of the last elections, but they refused, because they demanded access to 7 provinces of the total 25, and this number is large compared to the size of their presence on the ground, which does not exceed 300 Mosques, at the level of all the French territory “.

Zakri, who had decided to participate in the elections of 2011, and achieved relative success in spite the Mosque of Paris boycotted the elections, he decided this time to return back to the origin and join the lists of the Grand Mosque, which enhances the potential that the oldest Islamic Foundation  in France would offer, and which had suffered from pressure that was practiced by the French right, during the periods in which the former French president, Nicolas Sarkozy, was an interior minister, then president of the Republic.
