Ziari urges opposition MPs to join in free-wheeling debate on ongoing political reforms
The Chairman of the National Popular Assembly, Mr Abdellaziz Ziari, has urged the parliamentary majority to prompt opposition MPs to join in a broad-based and free-wheeling debate to ensure the full success of the ongoing political reforms in Algeria.
- Mr Ziari called on opposition parties represented in Parliament to steer clear of “selfishness and petty interests” by joining in the general parliamentary debate in order to ensure a broad support for the salutary political reforms as firmly advocated by the President of the Republic, Mr Abdellaziz Bouteflika, during the latest meeting of the council of ministers devoted to outstanding national issues.
- Mr Abdellaziz Ziari also indicated that the government was intent on taking into account between 70 and 90% of the manifold views and proposals put forth by various party leaders, national personalities and representatives of the labour world and civil society during the numerous brain-storming meetings held last July with the commission in charge of the projected reforms.
