Zintan Rebels Recoup Stolen Equipments of Sonatrach in Libya

The Zintan rebels in Libya have recouped a load of stolen equipments belonging to state owned energy giant Sonatrach.

A well informed source said the stolen equipments were recouped by the rebel squadron of Salem Ben Kina, adding that the equipments belong to Sonatrach as part of its partnership investments in Libya.

The equipments, which have been secured in a warehouse, comprise big trucks, 4×4 vehicles, power generators, and oil drilling special devices, in addition to bulldozers, the source said.

Chief of the squadron told Echorouk reporter that his elements are still standing as guards in the spot to secure the warehouse.

Sonatrach suspended its activities in the plant of Ghdames, western Libya, after the outbreak of the armed conflict there, while a statement of the group vowed to resume activity as soon as stability is restored.

The rebel chief said the equipments would be handed over only to Sonatrach, once inventoried and separated according to their category.

Recently, Sonatrach sent a group of experts to Libya to examine the fate of the company’s investments, and the possibility of resuming activity.
