Protesters in Sudan's capital stormed and broke into the German embassy Friday, raising an Islamic flag and setting fires outside the facility.

Video from Khartoum showed black smoke rising over the building as demonstrators chanted outside. The German foreign ministry said all embassy staff members were safe.

The protest was the latest across the Arab world triggered by an anti-Muslims film produced in the United States. The U.S. government has said it had nothing to do with the film.

Protesters in Khartoum also stormed the British embassy Friday but did not break in. Both the German and British embassies are located near a large downtown mosque.

Witnesses say that protesters later moved in cars and buses toward the U.S. embassy, about 18 kilometers away.
